LA’s efforts supporting military children

Deborah Hayes, USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work adjunct professor and co-chair of the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative working group on families and children, discusses the work the collaborative has been able to do over the years to support military children and their families.
As a collaborative, we are truly a number of different organizations and individuals with the same goal, the same vision. And that is to support military-connected children, to identify them in different service areas so that we can be better able to provide for their needs.

Mindfulness expert discusses work with pre-deployment service members

High amounts of stress can negatively impact performance, but current research suggests that incorporating mindfulness training to the time leading up to a high-stress event can improve performance.
