Legal & Re-Entry Working Group
The Legal and Re-Entry Working Group consists of lawyers, legal professionals, policymakers, public counsel, and Veteran Affairs (VA) legal teams. The working group focuses on policy objectives, education, identifying laws affecting veterans and service delivery, building capacity with legal professionals to work with veteran clients in Los Angeles as well as organizing to solve large-scale legal barriers facing veterans with criminal or legal issues.

JODI GALVIN is an attorney who serves on the Los Angeles County Bar Association Armed Forces Committee. She works to advance veteran initiatives, train veteran advocates and inform veterans about helpful resources and services available to them. Galvin has been instrumental in bringing together various entities to aid veterans with legal issues, such as resolving traffic tickets, providing legal clinics, dealing with the criminal justice system, etc. One of her goals is to create the best veteran peer specialist certification program for California.
- Veteran Resource Card: Developed a resource card for law enforcement officials to provide to veterans for service referral instead of arrest on minor offenses.
- Compton Stand Down: Planned and coordinated with Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles & Los Angeles County Bar Association to host the first Compton Stand Down in 10 years. Provided services included legal clinics, medical and housing assistance.
- Incarcerated Veterans: Held key meeting with top administrators in Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to propose expansion of services for incarcerated veterans, expanding veteran pods, and providing veteran resource cards for deputies.
