Visiting scholar brings international focus to military transition issues

Struggling to translate military skillsets for the civilian workplace and developing an identity outside the military are not transitional challenges unique to American veterans.

In an exchange of ideas that could promote the well-being of all veterans—regardless of nationality—David Pedlar, research director at Veterans Affairs Canada, joined the USC School of Social Work as a Fulbright visiting research chair in military social work.

Documentary featuring LAVC sheds light on complications of job-hunting in LA

Local veteran hiring issues were spotlighted during a recent screening of “Jobs for GIs” documentary that followed a handful of local veterans as they navigated the various resources available in Los Angeles aimed at helping veterans find employment.

Held Jan. 20 at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall and in partnership with the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative, the screening was followed by a panel discussion of the issues addressed in the documentary.
